HISTORY OF THE WORK
We came to Mar del Plata in 1984 to pastor the church
and direct its various
ministries. God gave us the great challenge of guiding His people
in the
search to meet with Him and to have an encounter with the cross.
Our goal has
been to bring the presence of God to the people so they can be
transformed and
delivered. It is in His presence that rivers of praise and
worship flow to the
Lamb that liveth forever.
We are currently enlarging the church as the building
is becoming too small
for the 500 people that meet there.
Our outreach is varied. One group of young people
visit the disabled. Another
group, who know sign language, share God's word with the deaf.
Others visit
the prison regularly to share the Good News. In different sectors
of the city
we have four satellite churches which minister to families. We
have a Bible
home (the "Instituto Biblico Peniel") where we care for
a group of teenagers.
These young people either go out everyday to work or school, or
they stay on
the grounds to help with the maintenance of the buildings and
property.
We do much outreach for children. We place a lot of
importance on Sunday
school. The children need to get to know Jesus. Our goal is to
teach them the
principles of God. In addition to teaching these children, we
also organize
activities for them according to their ages. We go out a lot,
have social
meetings, music festivals and hiking. Camp retreats are organized
during the
summer season so the kids can get together not only for meetings
and Bible
studies but also for sports, games and lots of fun.
This year the Lord has been working in a special way
in their lives. During
the August camp something marvellous happened. A time was given
in a service
for the children to open their hearts to God. The presence of God
descended,
bringing conviction of sin and breakings. The youngsters fell
prostrate,
crying out to God for deliverance and forgiveness. It was a
sovereign work of
the Holy Spirit. He is the only one able to convict of sin.
During these
special services some of the children received God's call to go
to a seminary
to prepare to serve Him.
Three years ago God put it in our hearts to start
producing some radio
programs. "Coming to Meet Jesus" is the title of one of
the programs. We share
messages, commentaries and music. God has since opened 14
different Christian
radio stations in our country to which the programs are being
sent. At the
beginning of this year we started another program sharing the
stories behind
the great hymns of the church. Our purpose is for these
broadcasts to bless
God's people.
